Happy Gudhi Padwa

Ugadi, as called in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh and Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra indicates the start of a new year for people in those states.
Ugadi is derived from ‘Yuga adi’ where ‘yuga’ means time, era or period and ‘adi’ means beginning. Gudi in marathi is a Bamboo stick which is decorated and at the top of which a cup or a glass is placed and Padwa means the ‘adi’ described earlier.
People in Andhra Pradesh make a special dish called as ‘Ugadi pachchadi’ which contains six different tastes (Shadruchulu) viz. bitter, sour, sweet, salt, tang and heat indicating 6 expressions of life sadness, happiness, anger, fear, aversion and surprise.
People in kannada call this Ugadi pachchadi as Bevu-Bella.
So on this auspicious occasion “May God Bless you with Peace and God Luck and Success this Ugadi and all through the year”.
